Covid-19: What will be the long-term impact for AHPs?

What are the effects on AHPs going to be from the Coronavirus pandemic? Will these affects be short-lived? Or will the after-effects be felt for a long time to come?

The media coverage surrounding Covid-19 tended to focus on Nurses and Doctors. But what of AHPs? How will their working lives be different as a result of Covid-19? Comment 💬 Like ❤️ Reply 🙂below.

How will the nature of studying to become, and practicing as an AHP be altered going forward?

Therapy that was previously beneficial in a group has had to adapted and tailored to work for individuals due to this crisis.

Do you think that social distancing restrictions make it harder for AHPs to do their jobs effectively?

For AHP students who undertook paid clinical placements during the crisis, is the resumption of standard unpaid practice placements an unnecessary regression?

NHS England are currently funding the monies for paid placements, which are arranged between the universities and placement providers.

Should the NHS be considering funding, and lobbying the Treasury for financial assistance to help fund these placements going forward?

People recovering from Covid-19 will continue to face challenges on their return to full health after they have been discharged from hospital. This will require increased involvement of AHPs, who are integral to the rehabilitation process.

Do you think that this anticipated increase in demand could result in the extension of the HCPC temporary register?

For final year students who having completed all their required placements were eligible to join the temporary register, should there be some recognition of the practical experience gained when it comes to their future employment?

For former registrants, should there be additional resources made available if they wish to return to the Register on a more permanent basis, in addition to the usual Return to Practice procedures?
